Power Rangers: The Movie (1995 Film)

Image
You want to talk about leaving an impact on an entire generation, at least that is just my humble opinion which was the Power Rangers. Holy crap did I ever loved that show, so when me and my twin brother Chad found out that there was going to be a movie, you bet that we were going to see it. June 30th, 1995, officially thirty years ago was the debut of this classic. God only knows how often we would annoy our parents to let us watch this movie. Forget me mother and father lol. From the time when it hit the theaters, to the multiple times we would rent it out of our local video store, this movie continues to have an impact on my life. The Power Rangers Movie was AWESOME! I mean this was the basically the biggest movie of the 90s in my eyes, especially being a five year old at the time. This film was released in-between seasons two and three although season three had a completely different setting than the movie. The plot of the film follows the Rangers as they must stop a being kno...

The Wacky Adventures Of Josh And Chad: Fireworks/Cookout!

Image
Well tonight was quite an adventure of me and my twin as we headed down to Lewistown and met up at our Aunt Mona's house for a nice cookout as well as getting to see the fireworks show in town. As always, it is great to see and hangout with my family. Don't really get to come down and see them too often. As we arrived we helped carried some stuff for the cookout over from our Aunt Vic's house over across the street to Aunt Mona's place. Oh boy was there plenty of stuff to eat! The main course was the mountain pies which were totally delicious. My cousin Greg was also making some hot dogs in the fire pit while my little cousin Max was running and tossing the baseball around. Of course, I got to get some of my Aunt Mona's amazing brownies along with some carrots, BBQ Chips and so on and so forth 😋. But as night time grew closer, my uncle Butch and my cousin Andy brought over some personal fireworks and began to light things up so to speak and there were a couple of ...

The Black And The Blue (Poem)

The world around me is in total chaos. My head feels so numb that I am at a complete and total loss. There is too much for my mind to handle, I feel like I am about to fall. Only to be awakened from my nightmare but my one true friend Kabal. As I awake to the sound of his call, I sense the purity of the water that surrounds my damaged heart and it brings me peace with ease. And Kabal is there to remind me that no one can hurt me here, I can do as I please. For once, I feel so powerful and it makes me feel not so afraid anymore. It has brought me so much joy, something that I once thought was not containable before. Though the scars on my body are a constant reminder of what I go through on a daily basis, it doesn't take away my joy. For now I have all of this power at my employ. But now I must deploy. For why should I be alone feel such happiness, at least, that is what Kabal asked me. There are many lost souls who are in need, and I can be the one who plants the seed so now I must...

The Shadow (Comic Book Character)

Image
It has been a while since I got to talk about a comic book character, sadly I do not think many people would be aware of this character, but then again I could be wrong. But today I am talking about The Shadow. Who knows what evils lurk inside the hearts of men? The Shadow knows! The Shadow was created by Publisher Street & Smith along with writer Walter B. Gibson back in the early 1930s. With first making his debut as the narrator to the Detective Story Hour in 1930 and was voiced by the great Orson Welles (RIP). Meanwhile, the first comic book of the Shadow didn't debut until April of 1931. From there onward, The Shadow has been featured in comics, video games, television, movies, you name it, The Shadow was in it. Though originally named Kent Allard, but the most well known is Lamont Cranston who is used in the 1994 film starring Alec Baldwin. What I love about the Shadow is how straight forward he is, much like a lot of the pulp comics were at the time. The Shadow was basi...

Baywatch (Summer Is Here!)

Image
Well everybody, it is officially Summer time! At time where many of us will be heading out late at night enjoying the beautiful night sky, many will be heading out to the beach and enjoy some relaxation, maybe do a little bit of swimming, getting the grills fired up for some burgers or hot dogs, etc. But today, I thought about writing about the TV series called Baywatch, which is fitting because as mentioned earlier, many of us will be going to enjoy ourselves with a little bit of beach fun. Some of us will also be working on our Summer bods so to speak. Which is appreciate considering the topic of today's blog post. Baywatch is a television series that was created by Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz and Gregory J. Bonann and made its debut on NBC back in 1989 but was cancelled after one season before becoming one of the most watched shows through syndication of all time with a weekly viewership of 1.1 billion views 😮. It certainly was a major part of pop culture during the 1990s. ...

SEGA (Video Game Company)

Image
This month is a celebration of one of my favorite video game companies ever! Sega is the main reason for why I fell in love with video games and it is crazy to think that this company is now 65 years old. Sega began its journey selling things like coin operated amusement machines such as the slot machines before moving into the arcade business in the 1980s as well as the home gaming console market. The very first gaming console created by Sega was SG-1000 back in 1982 and Sega has been involved with video gaming ever since. Of course being a 90s kid, I never got to play the SG-1000 or the Master System for that matter. I was introduce to Sega thanks to the Sega Genesis and man did I ever love that system. What I loved most about Sega was the incredible games that were coming through like Golden Axe, Virtua Fighter and of course Sonic the Hedgehog. Also I loved the arcade games like Virtua Fighter as much as I did with the home console version, Burnout, After Burner, etc. But ultim...

Grease

Image
Although I am not into many musicals, this one certainly left an impression on me as well as many others who enjoyed watching it and it was called Grease. Although I first saw it from the 1978 film, it originally started as a broadway show back in 1971. Created by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey (RIP) and the story was set in 1959 at the fictional high school known as Rydell High School and it follows of a youth subculture group known as Greasers as they navigate through things like peer pressure, politics, personal core values and love. Inspired by the early stages of Rock and Roll, Grease was raunchy, raw, aggressive, vulgar show. It actually had to be toned down in future productions.  Fun Fact, in the movie, the gang was called The T-Birds, but they were actually called the Burger Palace Boys. Members include, Danny, Kenickie, Doody, Roger, Sonny, Miller (Who only appeared in the original production). Of course you also got Sandy along with the Pink Ladies led by Rizzo, Frenc...

Father's Day Experience: Interview With Floyd Wileman

Hello again folks, I am back with another interview about Fathers sharing their personal experiences of being a dad. Today, I got to talk with Floyd Wileman who is a father to three sons named Logan, Kodi Wolfe and Deacin. Hope you all enjoy! JY: Was being a dad something you always wanted to be? FW: Yes! I've always wanted to be a Dad. I've always wanted a big family.  JY: What was it like being told you are becoming a father? FW: Dude my heart was filled with so much joy! My eyes filled with tears, at the same time I was scared to bring a child into this world knowing how it was at that time and a fear of not being a good Dad. JY: What was it like seeing your child for the first time? FW: For the first time seeing my boys was like wow. I made these little creatures. I was afraid to hold them with fear of breaking them. They were so tiny compared to this big teddy bear. JY: What do you like most about being a dad? FW: I love the fact that they look up to me and watching them g...

Father's Day Experience: Interview With Justine L Gonzalez

You know a while back, I did a little experiment, I wanted to help find ways to bring us all closer together and I came up with interviewing mothers and giving them a chance to share their experiences of motherhood. But now, Father's Day is approaching and I wanted to see the side of the father and get their experiences of fatherhood. And first up is a friend of mine named Justine L. Gonzalez. Hope you all enjoy! JY: Was being a dad something you always wanted to be? JG: Deep down, being a dad wasn't something I would say I ALWAYS wanted to be, but it was and always felt like something that was always MEANT to be. Growing up, I always had a leadership role come natural to me and coming from an all female household and family, I've always felt like I was the man of the family. I didn't think about being a dad, but now looking back, fatherhood started at my upbringing. Everything I've done led me to be a dad.  JY: What was it like being told you are becoming a father?...

Jet Grind Radio

Image
Holy crap! I can not believe that this incredible video game came out 25 years ago. I am certainly getting older lol. In the month of June in the year 2000, I was introduced to one of my personal favorite video games of all time in the form of Jet Grind Radio for the Sega Dreamcast. Nowadays it is called Jet Set Radio, but when it first came out in North America, it was called Jet Grind Radio. A while back I had written about the Dreamcast being my favorite system I had ever played. And this game was one of the reasons as to why and honestly, this game basically described who I am as a person whether it be the type of music, the rollerblading, the culture it was about at the time. It basically help led me to the things I love to this very day and began a part of who I am. The player controls a member of a youth gand called the GGs who uses inline skates to traverse the streets of Tokyo while competing against other gangs as well as evading the authorities. The story is guided by t...

Kirby Air Ride (GameCube Game)

Image
With the Nintendo Switch 2 out now, I decided to again to look back on some of my personal favorite Nintendo games. Today I thought about reliving an old GameCube classic in the form of Kirby Air Ride. Kirby Air Ride came out on the Nintendo GameCube back in 2003 and it was incredibly fun to play. It basically follows Kirby and his multi-colored counterparts as they compete in different races. Man was this game awesome! Me and my twin would play this game for hours. The controls were simple and the varies of different game modes made it quite enjoyable to play.  There were three different modes in Kirby Air Ride, the first being Air Ride, which is a straight up race to see who is number one of the track. The second mode is called Top Ride. Which is another racing mode, however this time you see above the track and have to choose either a blue star which drives counter clock wise or a red star which the control stick is tilted. There are only seven tracks in this mode and they...

Blue World Order (Pro Wrestling Faction)

Image
It is no secret that I am a big pro wrestling fan, which has led me to today's topic, the Blue World Order which in my humble opinion is one of the best factions ever! This group made its debut back in November of 1996 and has made an impact ever since. As mentioned in a previous blog, Stevie Richards was an enormous help to me in my short wrestling/referee career and really in life. Making me a proud fan of the bWo! The first time I had ever seen the blue World order was 20 years ago in 2005 when they were with the WWE for a short stint. But being a fan of the history of pro wrestling, I got to learn more about them and became an even bigger fan. The bWo originally started in ECW and was a parody of the WCW faction, the New World Order which was the hottest act in wrestling at the time. It featured Big Stevie Cool (Stevie Richards) who was portraying Kevin Nash, Da Blue Guy (The Blue Meanie) pretending to be Scott Hall and Hollywood Nova (Nova) as Hollywood Hogan. It was only sup...

Nintendo Entertainment System (NES Gaming System)

Image
You want to talk about none only making an impact, but saving an entire industry and that is the subject of today's blog post. I am talking  about the Nintendo Entertainment System, better known as the NES. The NES is a gaming console from the Japanese company called Nintendo and it arrived to the masses all the way back in 1983 and set the standard for all other video game consoles that have come after it. As mentioned earlier,  this console literally saved a whole industry. By the time the NES came out, many people thought video games were a thing of the past especially after the Great Video Game in the same year as the NES release. But thanks to Nintendo us nerds have continued to play some amazing games to this very day. Thanks Nintendo! This was their third generation console with its main rival was the Sega Genesis, which I also really enjoyed playing. But back to the NES, the design of this great system was late Masayuki Uemura (RIP). It features two controller po...
