Nintendo Entertainment System (NES Gaming System)

You want to talk about none only making an impact, but saving an entire industry and that is the subject of today's blog post. I am talking  about the Nintendo Entertainment System, better known as the NES.

The NES is a gaming console from the Japanese company called Nintendo and it arrived to the masses all the way back in 1983 and set the standard for all other video game consoles that have come after it.

As mentioned earlier,  this console literally saved a whole industry. By the time the NES came out, many people thought video games were a thing of the past especially after the Great Video Game in the same year as the NES release. But thanks to Nintendo us nerds have continued to play some amazing games to this very day. Thanks Nintendo!

This was their third generation console with its main rival was the Sega Genesis, which I also really enjoyed playing.

But back to the NES, the design of this great system was late Masayuki Uemura (RIP). It features two controller ports and one expansion slot. However, I must say the best part about the NES was how long it lasted. The fact that it came out in 1983 and made it all the way to 1995 before being discontinued is a testament of how amazing this system was.

Speaking of controllers, there were so many different controllers you could use. Besides the original NES controller, you got the "Dog Bone" design controller, you had the NES Advantage which was a home arcade style controller, then there was the NES Max and finally the NES Zapper which was used for games like Duck Hunt.

Fun fact, this was the first console I got to play as a kid and honestly, I miss those days.

The best selling game for the NES was the original Super Mario Bros game which sold 40 million cartridges.

Along with Super Mario Bros, there were plenty to chose from for the NES which also featured the original Legend of Zelda, 10 Yard Fight, Tecmo Super Bowl, Tecmo Baseball, The Addams Family, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, River City Ransom, Double Dragon, Double Dribble, Darkwing Duck, World Games, Where's Waldo, Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?, California Games, Captain America and The Avengers, Castlevania, Contra, I mean holy crap was there a ton of games to play lol.

Crazy to think that this system has been discontinued for thirty years now and honestly, I miss it a ton and everyone that is or has been a fan of gaming owes a great deal to gratitude towards the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Because if it wasn't for the NES, we all may never been able to play video games.

Thankfully, we don't have to worry about that. Thanks Nintendo! 😁

This was a lot of fun looking back on the NES and I am grateful for the time I had playing it.

Hope you all enjoyed this blog post.

Until Next Time!

God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
