Kirby Air Ride (GameCube Game)
With the Nintendo Switch 2 out now, I decided to again to look back on some of my personal favorite Nintendo games. Today I thought about reliving an old GameCube classic in the form of Kirby Air Ride.
Kirby Air Ride came out on the Nintendo GameCube back in 2003 and it was incredibly fun to play. It basically follows Kirby and his multi-colored counterparts as they compete in different races.
Man was this game awesome! Me and my twin would play this game for hours. The controls were simple and the varies of different game modes made it quite enjoyable to play.
There were three different modes in Kirby Air Ride, the first being Air Ride, which is a straight up race to see who is number one of the track.
The second mode is called Top Ride. Which is another racing mode, however this time you see above the track and have to choose either a blue star which drives counter clock wise or a red star which the control stick is tilted. There are only seven tracks in this mode and they all feature a different elements like, grass, water, sand, light, sky, fire and metal.
Last but not least, the third mode is the City Trial where you and many others compete in a much larger city type environment grabbing different Air Ride vehicles along with upgrades like top speed, charges, offense, defense, HP, etc.
But what I love most about this mode is the random events that happen during mode which includes a meteor falling from the sky, fake power ups, UFOs and so forth. I also love looking for the pieces to the two legendary vehicles, the Dragoon or the Hydra, personally I prefer the Dragoon, but that is just my humble opinion.
This was so much fun and I dare say it was one of the best games I ever played on the GameCube. This was a super underrated video game.
Now a few months ago, I was checking out the Nintendo Direct and when I saw that this game was getting a sequel, I nearly went through the roof. A little over twenty years later, this game is making a comeback and I love it 😁
Kirby Air Riders will be hitting the Switch 2 sometime in 2025.
Until Next Time!
God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
