Grease
Although I am not into many musicals, this one certainly left an impression on me as well as many others who enjoyed watching it and it was called Grease.
Although I first saw it from the 1978 film, it originally started as a broadway show back in 1971. Created by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey (RIP) and the story was set in 1959 at the fictional high school known as Rydell High School and it follows of a youth subculture group known as Greasers as they navigate through things like peer pressure, politics, personal core values and love.
Inspired by the early stages of Rock and Roll, Grease was raunchy, raw, aggressive, vulgar show. It actually had to be toned down in future productions.
Fun Fact, in the movie, the gang was called The T-Birds, but they were actually called the Burger Palace Boys.
Members include, Danny, Kenickie, Doody, Roger, Sonny, Miller (Who only appeared in the original production). Of course you also got Sandy along with the Pink Ladies led by Rizzo, Frenchy, Marty and Jan.
As mentioned earlier, this is a magical and I must say that there were plenty of great songs to listen to throughout the show. Songs like the title song "Grease", Greased Lightning, Beauty School Dropout, There are Worse Things I could do, We go together. But honestly, I really enjoyed the Olivia Newton-John (RIP) of Hopeless Devoted to you song. Just beautifully done!
Grease was such a hit, it along with the 1978 film which was awesome, I also got to watch the 2016 live television special that aired on FOX called Grease Live which I thought was very well done.
Hopefully now until the end of time, people will always know that Grease is the word! Because it's got groove, it's got meaning!
Until Next Time!
God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
