Space Jam (Video Game)
In an other blog post, I had written about celebrating 30 years of the film Space Jam, well today, I wanted to look back on another fun thing I did as a kid and that was playing the video game of the same name which also came out along with the movie it was based on.
Space Jam the game, was created by Acclaim and was released for the Sega Saturn and Playstation. It was 3 on 3 basketball 2D game where you can choose to play for the TuneSquad or Monstars.
There were some cool mini-games through it all as well including being Daffy Duck trying to find Jordan's uniform while trying to avoid the family dog Charles. You also get to play as Bugs who is trying to find water bottles that contain Michael's secret stuff (Water) 😂.
What I love the most about this game is just how simple of a game it was. Me, Chad and Codeman would play this game for hours. Plus big brother Codeman is a major Michael Jordan fan during the youth in the 90s.
This game used the same engine as NBA Jam Extreme which makes sense because it was developed by the same people.
As mentioned earlier, you choose between the two teams, but you can only pick three players. But all the characters from the film are in the game as well like Bugs, Daffy, Lola, Jordan and several others and each player has their strengths and weaknesses as well so you had to choose carefully on who you pick. Of course, you can always switch out for different character. But if I remember correctly, you can only change your players at halftime.
I can't believe this game is 30 years old, I mean it is crazy to me how time flies and honestly, I miss those times, everything just seemed so simple back then. With that being said however, I am grateful for those times and loved being able to play this game with my brothers.
Happy 30
Until Next Time!
God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
