The Wacky Adventures Of Josh And Chad: McVeytown Fire Company 18

 Sometimes the most adventurous days come when you do not expect them and today was certainly one of those days. Chad and I went outside to take care of recycling and Chad had suggested we go check out the brand new Fire House for the McVeytown Fire company. 

His boss from Kountry Kitchen, Amanda Boozel, her husband Doug is the Assistant Chief of the McVeytown Fire Company and they invited us to come over and check out the new the building. Of course we decided to go and see it for ourselves.

When we arrived, Doug was not there yet, but we were welcomed by Nate Moist and many other members of the fire company and Moist went and gave us a little tour around the building. It was quite beautiful and I am glad to see that they were able to get the building put up.

Now, remember when I said that sometimes the adventure can come when you least expect it. Well that came as we had just finished up our little tour, the alarm went off as a fire had broken out. 

While Chad and I stood there awkwardly as we normally do lol, the crew jumped into action and went down to take care of business.

As we stood there, we weren't really sure what to do, we wondered if we should just head home. But before we could do anything, we got to meet more members of the Fire Company like John, Joe, Tiny, etc who had all come in just in case of needed backup. Sorry if I forgot anyone of your names.

What was crazy was we could see the smoke from where we were at. Thankfully, the smoke didn't last too long and eventually we could not see anymore smoke from the building. Hope and pray that everyone involved stayed safe.

Doug then arrived to the building and we all got to chat around as they explained to us that they are hoping to put together some events in order to collect some funds for the new fire house.

Which is why I am writing today's blog post. Because these guys are hard working people who volunteer to be doing this. These guys risk their lives to those in need when it comes to fires and have to ready at all time 24/7.

25 Years Of Loving Memories!

WOW! It is very hard to believe that on this day April 25, 2000, I lost one of the most fun and loving people that I have ever known. And I called him Pap! It really is true about how time flies, it still feels like only yesterday that I was told that Pap had past away. It was my first experience with death in my life and honestly, didn't handle it too well. For nearly ten years, my Pap never failed to make me smile and laugh. Heck! I always looked forward to seeing him and Nan when I was a kid. Some of my personal favorite memories with Pap was when he took me and my big brother Cody to go see the Merf Dog. I also loved when every time that we would leave and we forgot to hug him, he would begin to "cry" that we didn't hug him and we ended up running back up the porch step and give him and Nan and BIG Hug.  Well, with me trying to become more positive about myself, I have been looking back into the past and find ways to let go of some of the negative emotions attached to it. One such issue was going back to my time at Lewistown Area High School which as mentioned before was a huge struggle for me.  But again, trying to be more positive, I wanted to look back at that time and remember some of the good moments during that period. One of which was playing for the Lewistown Panthers baseball team. Heading into my senior year of high school, I wasn't in the best state of mind. Honestly, I really did not want to be there anymore, I was just so sick of life, never thought I was going to be anything. All I ever was going to be was a huge disappointment.
