The Original Xbox

WOW! Just WOW! This year along has about big time milestones, especially in my lifetime. One of those special milestone is celebrating 25 years since the debut of one of the biggest video game consoles ever, the original Xbox.

Amazing! 25 years ago back in 2001, the original Xbox literally burst upon the scene. For the time since 1993, with the Atari Jaguar, that a American-produced console was created. The Xbox was created by Microsoft and was a response to the launching of Sony's Playstation 2 and Nintendo's GameCube.

The first time that I myself got to see the Xbox was during an episode of GameSpot TV on ZDTV/Tech TV. Being a kid at the time, I was just excited to see more video games to play, I never was into the whole "Console Wars". Sure, I had my favorites just like everyone else, but I just loved video games.

But going back to GameSpot TV, I found an old episode on YouTube and just brought a smile on my face. I had forgotten how much of a big deal it was at the time. A lot of the people who were in the know so to speak, were really hyping up the Xbox and talked about how Microsoft was coming into the video game market swinging. And they were certainly right.

Now, me and my brothers, Chad and Cody got to play all three of the consoles of this time period, the PS2, GameCube and of course, the Xbox. We got the Xbox first mainly because of some of the games that were heading onto the system. Such games like, Shenmue 2 and Jet Set Radio Future who I enjoyed playing on the Sega Dreamcast, so we jumped onto the Xbox.

Of course, the biggest reason as to why we wanted to get an Xbox, was the amazing game known as Halo. I dare say that if not for Halo, I do not believe would have been as big as it was. But that is just my humble opinion.

Along with Shenmue 2, Jet Set Radio Future and Halo, there were several other games that I really enjoyed playing. Games like, Ninja Gaiden, Aggressive Inline, And 1 Streetball, Bloodrayne, Brute Force, Burnout, Call of Duty, College Sports, Darkwatch, Dead or Alive, Fable, Fight Night, Freedom Fighters, Gladius, The Godfather, GoldenEye: Rogue Agent, GTA, Guilty Gear, Gun, Hunter The Reckoning, IndyCar, Jade Empire, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, James Bond games, Kung Fu Chaos, Knights of the Temple, Legends of Wrestling, Mace Griffin Bounty Hunter, Madden, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Max Payne, MVP College baseball, Nascar, NFL Coach, NHL games, Oddworld, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Prisoner of War, The Punisher, Red Faction, Red Dead Revolver, etc.

Now, the biggest selling game of all time for the original Xbox was Halo 2 which blew the roof off of everything to me as a kid and honestly made me to want to a part of gaming.

It was really fun going back in time and getting to look at such incredible games. It is crazy to see where the Xbox came from to where it is now, I mean, being a little kid at the time of the original release seeing the potential of the console only for it to become a major force in the gaming industry.

Such great memories!

Until Next Time!

God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
