The Addams Family (1964 Sitcom)

You know over 60 years ago, this incredible sit-com came into the world and has been entertaining us ever since. The Addams family is an gothic sit-com which was based on the comic strips that were created by Charles Addams in 1938.

The premise of the show follows the Addams family who are a tight knit group who are into macabre interest and supernatural abilities. Although, to be fair the show never really did explain their supernatural gifts.

The Addams Family Casting List:

John Astin as Gomez Addams

Carolyn Jones as Morticia Addams

Jackie Coogan as Uncle Fester

Ted Cassidy as Lurch (Addams Family Butler)

Blossom Rock as Grandmama Addams

Lisa Loring as Wednesday Addams

Ken Weatherwax as Pugsley Addams

And of course, we can not forget about Thing, the disembodied hand that moves around the Addams Mansion.

Oh man, I loved this show! One of the reasons why I loved the show was the comedy of it, the whole running gag throughout the series was how despite the unusual nature of the Addams Family, they are generally extremely courtesy and respectful to their guests. Many of which are left confused or fearful and most of them never return.

I feel like I can relate to that to some degree as I myself enjoy a lot of different gothic stuff or symbolism that the Addams Family displays. I do often feel like I am a bit out there among the normal people and watching the Addams family made me in a weird way normal myself.

But to be perfectly honest with all of you, I didn't realize until I looked the show up and discovered that it only lasted for two seasons. I honestly thought it lasted longer than it did, but maybe that is the old childhood memories kicking in.

I love the chemistry between Astin and Jones as Gomez and Morticia. Also, a HUGE shoutout to Vic Mizzy who wrote and performed the famous Addams Family theme song with Cassidy singing the parts neat, sweet and petite. The theme became so popular it was given a single release though it didn't reach the national charts. But now the theme will be stuck in my head for a little while 😂.

Though it only lasted for the two seasons, the cast did come back and have a Halloween special in 1977.

It is a shame though that most of the cast of the show are no longer with us and I pray for them as well as thank them for such an amazing show.

Until Next Time!

God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
