2025 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football Preview!

We are nearing the begin of a whole new season of College football and you know what that means, it means the return of Notre Dame Football.

The Fighting Irish will look to build on their success from a season ago where they were able to make it all the way to the National Championship game only to fall to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Notre Dame is heading into year four of the Marcus Freeman era as the Head Coach of the Fighting Irish. The Irish will head into the season ranked sixth in the nation according to the AP Rankings which, if I am being perfectly honest, I am not quite sure how I feel about that.

Reason being is that there are plenty of new happening in South Bend in terms people joining. For starters, the Irish will be without Al Golden who has moved onto the NFL as the DC for the Bengals and was replaced by Chris Ash. Not only is there a new defense, a lot of experience from last year are now gone as well including such great players like Rylie Mills, Jack Kiser, Benjamin Morrison, Xavier Watts, Howard Cross III, Riley Leonard, Mitchell Evans, etc.

But what I will say is that there is plenty of stuff that I am excited for heading into the season. Especially since it was announced that redshirt freshman CJ Carr was named the starter for Notre Dame a little while ago after a tough QB battle between himself and Kenny Minchey. Carr is a four star recruit and the grandson of Michigan coach Lloyd Carr. He stands 6'3 and weights over 200 pounds so it will be interesting to see how he handles big time college football.

Luckily Carr has one of the best, if not the best running back duo in the country in Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price right behind him.

The Fighting Irish will be led by team captains Drayk Bowen, Donovan Hinish, Will Pauling, Billy Schrauth, Adon Shuler and Aamil Wagner.

The Notre Dame season will not be easy especially the first two games of the year as the Irish will be against an old rival in the form of the Miami Hurricanes at Miami. The Hurricanes come into the season as the number ten team in the country. So that is going to be a tough one and then their second game is a rematch from last year as they will host Texas A & M.

Of course, the green jersey game will be on October 4th when the Irish will welcome Boise State to South Bend. I am excited for that.

Hopefully Notre Dame can get themselves a winning season, but you never know what will happen when it comes to college football especially now with the playoffs being 12 teams.

But I am hopeful! Let's get ready for some college football!

Notre Dame opens up this Sunday on the road against Miami at 7:30 p.m. on ABC.

Until Next Time! Go Irish! ☘

God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
