The Wacky Adventures Of Josh And Chad: Kid Connection/Brian Carson Honored At Hall Of Fame!

 Well, today was certainly interesting to say the least for me and my twin. Mainly because there was plenty for us to do today.

It started with us heading down to REC Park for Kid Connection where we met up with the wrestlers of the HWF who were putting on a few matches to entertainment the kids. Afterwards I got to go walk around the park to see all the events that were going on there and there were plenty of stuff to do which was really cool to see.

For starters, there was Merf Radio who was hosting a singing event where people could come up and sing their favorite songs to everyone at the event.

I also got to bump into Mifflin County Head Football Coach Shane Breon who along with a few of his players got to help with the next generation of Mifflin County football players with an obstacle course, teaching them some tricks of the trade.

That was where I got to hangout with Anthony Every who used to be the Mifflin County Boys Lacrosse coach and we got to chatting about football and lacrosse. Shout out to both Everly and Breon!

The next thing I know I saw my cousin Drew's wife Kristen along with her kids and they were having themselves a fun time. Shout Out to Kristen! Fellow Class of 2009 Lewistown Graduate!

With Kid Connection over, I went over to my Aunt Vic's house and got to chill with her, my uncle Butch and my cousin Greg for a bit and looked back on some old memories. My Aunt Vic brought out an old photo book and me and Chad got to see some photos of our Nan and Pap, our mother during her days of her youth as well as Vic and Aunt Mona.

Brought a lot of smiles of to my face looking back on all these amazing memories! Thank you Aunt Vic!

Then, we ended the day by visiting my friend and mentor Brian Carson and celebrated with him as he was honored at the Mifflin County Sports Hall of Fame. I was so happy for Carson, a well deserved award for all his years of dedication to covering sports. God Bless ya Carson! You earned it!

It really was a fun experience today and I hope everybody had a great time!

The Wacky Adventures Of Joshua and Chad: McVeytown Eagles Championship Parade!

Well tonight was a pretty special night down here in McVeytown as Chad and I along with many other people who live here in McVeytown all came together to celebrate a special accomplishment. And that was how all three of the McVeytown Eagles teams made it to the CKYFL championship games. Winning in both the Peewee and Midget divisions and placing second in the Mighty Mights. Stuff like this doesn't happen often in such a small town where I live so to see these kids have the time of their lives during the parade was certainly a sight to see. One of the things I love about covering sports is when I see kids learn, work hard and turn it into success. And these kids were learning a lot throughout the season and watching them grow and not only become better football players, but better people as well.  Which is why I have really enjoyed covering the CKYFL these last few years for Hometown Sports. The 2005 Lewistown Panthers Football Team!

 I recently completed reading my story for Hometown Sports Magazine about the 2005 Lewistown Panthers football team who finally ended a thirty years of losing seasons. In this blog, I wanted to talk about why I wanted to write about this team and how I feel the lessons that were learned about them throughout the year can still be used today.  One of the biggest reasons as to why I wanted to write about this team was because of how much of team these guys were both on and off the field. These guys have played the game of football together for a number of years and it clearly showed. Plus being a youngster, I really didn't know the history of Lewistown Panthers football. I only remember going to games because I remember my cousins playing on the team. But talking about the football team in general, to put it nicely, there wasn't a lot of success.
