Dream Center (Spaghetti Dinner)

 The good folks of the Dream Center will be hosting their Overdose Spaghetti Dinner over at the Calvary Bible Church on Friday May 30th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.. This dinner to help raise funds for the Overdose Awareness event that will be held on July 12th.

As the title says, there will be plenty of spaghetti to eat for all who chooses to attend. But they will also be serving salads, bread and some homemade desserts throughout the evening. There will also be some live music being played throughout the night as well.

I think this is really cool what the Dream Center is trying to do. There are several people who are out there struggling with addiction, many of which feel hopeless and there is nowhere to go. So it really is amazing and heartwarming to see people like the Dream Center reaching out to people and bring hope to those in need.

Especially seeing how far the creator of the Dream Center here in Mifflin County Chad Curry has come. Curry served our country 🫡 and had to overcome his own personal struggles and to see him use his experiences to help others come closer to Christ truly is inspiring.

I hope and pray nothing but the best for the Dream Center for their event. So, if you want to get some spaghetti and support a great cause, please come to the Calvary Bible Church over 100 Calvary Lane, Lewistown, Pa 17044. 

The event will again be held on Friday 30th from 5-8 p.m.

The Wacky Adventures Of Joshua and Chad: McVeytown Eagles Championship Parade!

Well tonight was a pretty special night down here in McVeytown as Chad and I along with many other people who live here in McVeytown all came together to celebrate a special accomplishment. And that was how all three of the McVeytown Eagles teams made it to the CKYFL championship games. Winning in both the Peewee and Midget divisions and placing second in the Mighty Mights. Stuff like this doesn't happen often in such a small town where I live so to see these kids have the time of their lives during the parade was certainly a sight to see. One of the things I love about covering sports is when I see kids learn, work hard and turn it into success. The 2005 Lewistown Panthers Football Team!

 I recently completed reading my story for Hometown Sports Magazine about the 2005 Lewistown Panthers football team who finally ended a thirty years of losing seasons. In this blog, I wanted to talk about why I wanted to write about this team and how I feel the lessons that were learned about them throughout the year can still be used today.  One of the biggest reasons as to why I wanted to write about this team was because of how much of team these guys were both on and off the field. These guys have played the game of football together for a number of years and it clearly showed. Plus being a youngster, I really didn't know the history of Lewistown Panthers football.
