xXx Vin Diesel Movie (2002)

 Talk about a defining moments in things that make you. This film was a big part of my childhood and it made me a fan of actor Vin Diesel. The movie is called xXx which came out in 2002 which also starred Samuel Jackson, Asia Argento and Marton Csokas.

This movie is so awesome and looking back on it, the film just represented where society was at that time. The whole extreme sports like snowboarding, rock climbing, hang gliding, etc were heavily featured in this movie and I loved every single bit of it.

Vin Diesel plays a thrill seeker named Xander Cage who becomes a reluctant spy for the United States government as they need him to infiltrate a Russian terrorist group called Anarchy 99 led by Yorgi (Marton Csokas) who plans on creating a complete lawlessness around the world. He plans to do this by launching a biochemical weapon.

Dude! This movie was a big reason why I became a fan of Vin Diesel. He was so cool being Xander Cage and I really wish I could be like Cage was in real life.

I also enjoyed the chemistry between Asia Argento and Diesel as Yelena and Cage throughout the film. Yelena being a Russian spy trying to stop Yorgi only to be abandoned by her Superiors trying to find a way out was a really cool subplot in the movie.

Anarchy 99 was a pretty cool name in my humble opinion and I really enjoyed how they portrayed their characters as well.

I also never get tired of Jackson's performance as Gibbons either.

The music soundtrack was another big factor as to why I love this movie so much. It featured a lot of the music that I enjoyed listening to like alternative rock, nu-metal, hip-hop, etc. From the opening scene where Rammstein was playing, Drowning Pool during the car stealing scene all the way to the ending credits song Adrenaline which was sung by Gavin Rossdale which is favorite song from the soundtrack. Still gets me fired up today.

This film had a budget of 88.3 million dollars when it was created and it scored big at the box office making 277.4 million dollars.

I want to take this time now to send my thoughts and prayers to the friends and family of Michael Roof who played Toby Lee Shavers who works for the NSA creating all the cool gadgets for Cage. Roof sadly took his own life and as someone who also struggles with mental health, I beg anyone who is reading this, you loved, seek help, there is always hope. RIP Michael Roof 🙏

The Wacky Adventures Of Joshua and Chad: McVeytown Eagles Championship Parade!

Well tonight was a pretty special night down here in McVeytown as Chad and I along with many other people who live here in McVeytown all came together to celebrate a special accomplishment. And that was how all three of the McVeytown Eagles teams made it to the CKYFL championship games. Winning in both the Peewee and Midget divisions and placing second in the Mighty Mights. Stuff like this doesn't happen often in such a small town where I live so to see these kids have the time of their lives during the parade was certainly a sight to see. One of the things I love about covering sports is when I see kids learn, work hard and turn it into success. The 2005 Lewistown Panthers Football Team!

 I recently completed reading my story for Hometown Sports Magazine about the 2005 Lewistown Panthers football team who finally ended a thirty years of losing seasons. In this blog, I wanted to talk about why I wanted to write about this team and how I feel the lessons that were learned about them throughout the year can still be used today.  One of the biggest reasons as to why I wanted to write about this team was because of how much of team these guys were both on and off the field. These guys have played the game of football together for a number of years and it clearly showed. Plus being a youngster, I really didn't know the history of Lewistown Panthers football.
