Mother's Day Experience: Interview With Hannah Laboon

What is up everybody! I am back with another fun interview! This time I got to talk with a recent addition to the club of Motherhood and her name is Hannah Laboon. Get to know her experiences of being a new mom. Enjoy!

JY: Was being mom something that you have always wanted to do?

HL: I heard this quote the other day about Motherhood and I think it sums it up perfectly. "It's everything you always knew, but nothing you ever did before." I always knew that part of my purpose here was to be a mother and in a a lot of ways I felt like a mother long before I actually had a child of my own through the ways I showed up in sisterhood, friendship, etc.

JY: What was going through your head when you were told that you were becoming a mother?

HL: It took me over four years to conceive with some failed attempts along the way. This last time being told I was going to be a mother, I just felt so sure that this time it was real. I knew the years of hard work, letting go of fears, gifting my body total wellness, ancestral trauma work, deepening my connection and secure attachment to my husband were all leading to the beautiful gift of a baby. It was all about surrendering to the experience, letting go of my fears and being patient and trusting in God's timing for it all.

JY: What was like seeing your child for the first time?

HL: I had my baby at home and seeing her for the first time wasn't what I thought it would be. They say you fall in love the second you see your baby but I was more overwhelmed and a bit freaked out. I had a quick delivery and my mind hadn't caught up yet with my surroundings so I needed a minute to gather myself and breathe it all in before I was truly able to look at and see my daughter. After we allowed that space to tend to my own needs and regather, I was handed my baby and all of those amazing feelings came rushing in. Looking into her eyes is the best experience and feelings I've ever had in my life.

JY: What do you love most about being a mom?

HL: Motherhood is all encompassing but it's also freedom too. My free time has become so precious that it's no longer wasted scrolling on my phone or wasting time. Motherhood is about moving full steam ahead while also relishing in each moment, it's a call to total presence. I feel like I'm no longer distracted because my life's biggest purpose and calling is right in front of me, relying on me to show up for her and also myself in each moment. It's a walking paradox of chaos and slow quiet stillness. I don't feel alive and like I've been given a gift that I plan on taking full advantage of it. Sylvie is my pay forward to the world and pouring my time, energy and love into her is worth everything.

JY: Any advice to any young mothers or someone who is wanting to become a mother?

HL: My advice to those who want to be a mother is to remember that we all have an important role in this world. There is no need to pressure yourself, instead, wrap yourself in tender loving care and prioritize your wellness. Surround yourself with good people and a solid community that's willing to show up. Feed yourself good food and feel the earth and the sunlight on your skin often. Reset your nervous system and remind yourself that none of this is an emergency. You can trust yourself to give you all that you want in this world when you take the time to give yourself consistent effort and love. Learning how to do this for you, will make it that much easier to become a mother when the time comes. All of our stories and paths have a purpose, so trust it and love yourself deeply along the way. Be your biggest fan and believe in yourself. You are 100% capable. There are hundreds of ways to be a good mother and they aren't all necessarily tied to having children of your own if that's not in the cards.

And there you have it folks! That was my interview with Hannah Laboon. I personally would like to thank her for taking the time to answer my questions. Thoughts and Prayers to her as she goes on her journey of Motherhood.

Until Next Time!

God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
