Junkyard Wars (TV Show)

 This was such a creative show and I wish was still around to this very day. But what I didn't know was that Junkyard Wars was actually the US version of a UK show called Scrapheap Challenge that was created in 1998.

The concept of the show was two teams of four with three regular members, a designated captain along with an expert in field of the particular challenge that episode. Then each team will go out into the junkyard and collect the parts needed to create their awesome machines that will be used to compete against the other team in a variety of challenges.

What I loved about the show was the seeing these guys run around a junkyard and took parts and used them to create new things. In fact, I still found it very hard to believe that they were able to get these parts to work for their vehicles. But it was incredible to see nonetheless.

Honestly, I haven't seen the show in a very long time and it sucks that the US version didn't last long. The Scrapheap Challenge in the UK lasted a whole lot longer starting from April of 1998 and lasted all the way to June of 2010.

My personal favorite episode to watch was witnessing three teams from three different kinds of auto racing compete against one another. One team was from drag racing, any was from Indy Cars and the third was from stock car racing.

This was such an underrated show and I really enjoyed it. I got to be honest though, as much as I enjoyed the show, I had a tough time understanding how they created these incredible machines. But nonetheless, I've always admired what these teams did with what little they had.

The Wacky Adventures Of Joshua and Chad: McVeytown Eagles Championship Parade!

Well tonight was a pretty special night down here in McVeytown as Chad and I along with many other people who live here in McVeytown all came together to celebrate a special accomplishment. And that was how all three of the McVeytown Eagles teams made it to the CKYFL championship games. Winning in both the Peewee and Midget divisions and placing second in the Mighty Mights. Stuff like this doesn't happen often in such a small town where I live so to see these kids have the time of their lives during the parade was certainly a sight to see. One of the things I love about covering sports is when I see kids learn, work hard and turn it into success. The 2005 Lewistown Panthers Football Team!

 I recently completed reading my story for Hometown Sports Magazine about the 2005 Lewistown Panthers football team who finally ended a thirty years of losing seasons. In this blog, I wanted to talk about why I wanted to write about this team and how I feel the lessons that were learned about them throughout the year can still be used today.  One of the biggest reasons as to why I wanted to write about this team was because of how much of team these guys were both on and off the field. These guys have played the game of football together for a number of years and it clearly showed. Plus being a youngster, I really didn't know the history of Lewistown Panthers football.
