Batman Arkham Asylum (Video Game)

Talk about a video game that set a standard. This classic of a game really brought Batman back into the mainstream of gaming in my humble opinion. And the best part, it still is as good as it was when it first came out.

Batman Arkham Asylum made its way to store shelves on August 25, 2009 and it was for the PS3 and PS4 along with Xbox 360 and Xbox One and so forth.

Arkham Asylum stars the Great Crusader himself after he arrests his arch rival the Joker was bringing him back to Arkham. However, not everything is what it seems as when they arrived, they are welcomed by Commissioner Gordon and Warden Quincy Sharp. Only to have Joker break loose and take control over the Asylum and Batman must stop him.

This may not surprise anyone, but this game RULES!!!!! For starters it is always fun getting to play as Batman. But this action/adventure is viewed in the third-person perspective and honestly the camera works amazingly.

One of the features of the game that I never get tired of is the detective vision. Which was quite helpful in puzzle solving and also to help you track down enemies and even tell you if your enemies are armed or unarmed.

The combat was also fun to do as well in the game, getting to beat up criminals as Batman never gets old. Also the gadgets also are a big help throughout the game as you can use the classic Batarangs, but also the Batclaw and even have the ability to hack into security panels, open new paths and disable various asylum functions.

But I would also advise players who had never played the game before that the enemies can be a bit tough and will shoot you down if they catch you, especially on harder difficulty.

Being a writer myself, the story of the game is incredible and one of my favorite parts about the Arkham Asylum. The story was written by one of my favorite writers, the great Paul Dini and once again he created a masterpiece. I love the concept of Joker using the venom to create himself an army of super venom filled monsters.

Since the game has been out since 2009, I don't think I will be spoiling anything when I said I loved how at the end of the story Joker uses the venom on himself and became monster himself.

Getting to see Kevin Conroy (RIP), Mark Hamill and Arleen Sorkin (RIP) of the Batman the Animated Series perform their respective characters, Batman, Joker and Harley Quinn was something to be hold. Honestly, the whole cast did an amazing job, it is one of the reasons as to why I think the game is so replayable.

Like I had mentioned before, this game set the standard of what a Batman game can truly be about. It has won numerous awards and to this very day still holds up and it is played by many gamers, some of who were barely alive when it came out or not even born when it came out and they are playing this game. Just goes to show you how well of a game it is.

This game is truly amazing and I really hope I did this game justice with this blog post because Batman Arkham Asylum is one of my Batman games of all time and possibly one of the greatest video games of all time period.

Until Next Time!

God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
