Jim Henson Master Of Puppets

 The world has certainly lost a great visionary 35 years ago and honestly, I think we need people like Jim Henson now more than ever. 

It really is sad that Henson is no longer with us. Although I wasn't quite born yet as he had past away a few months prior to me and my twin brother were born. But he left quite in impact on our lives.

For those who don't know Jim Henson is, he is the creator of some of the best puppets known to mankind. AKA, the Muppets! 

Such great characters like Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Rowlf the Dog, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, Animal, the Swedish Chef and so much more. My personal favorites are Statler and Waldolf.

The Muppets originated during a short form television series that was also created by Henson called Sam and Friends.

But then in 1976, The Muppets Show launched and aired for five seasons which included four Primetime Emmy awards and had 21 nominations. My favorite moments from that show include listening to both Statler and Waldolf constantly heckling the cast.

Of course, the Muppets also made some several good movies like the Muppets Movie, the Great Muppet Capper and Muppets Take Manhattan. Of course, my personal favorites are Treasure Island and the Muppets version of the Christmas Carol.

Henson was also responsible for other well known movies like Labyrinth and the Dark Crystal. He along with his creative team also were involved in the very first season of Saturday Night Live.

If you had read a previous blog of mine, I had mentioned how one of Henson's last projects was the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie which is an awesome movie by the way. I really appreciated how much he and his team put into those costumes in the film. TMNT 2 Secrets of the Ooze and Muppets Christmas Carol were both dedicated to Henson.

It really is sad that Jim was taking away from us so soon and like I had said earlier, the world could really use someone like Henson in the world nowadays. My thoughts and Prayers to his family and to anyone who knew him.

Rest In Peace Jim! Thank you for everything you did! 🙏🙏🙏

The Wacky Adventures Of Joshua and Chad: McVeytown Eagles Championship Parade!

Well tonight was a pretty special night down here in McVeytown as Chad and I along with many other people who live here in McVeytown all came together to celebrate a special accomplishment. And that was how all three of the McVeytown Eagles teams made it to the CKYFL championship games. Winning in both the Peewee and Midget divisions and placing second in the Mighty Mights. Stuff like this doesn't happen often in such a small town where I live so to see these kids have the time of their lives during the parade was certainly a sight to see. One of the things I love about covering sports is when I see kids learn, work hard and turn it into success. And these kids were learning a lot throughout the season and watching them grow and not only become better football players, but better people as well.  Which is why I have really enjoyed covering the CKYFL these last few years for Hometown Sports. Nick Dickson

 Recently, I had found out that a family friend of ours named Nick Dickson had a stroke and people have been doing what they can to support him and his family. Nick is a local mechanic who has been serving this community for many, many years and has always been a generous, hard worker and honorable person at the Dickson's Garage along with his father Ken. He and his father are also local racing legends around here in Mifflin County having raced for a couple generations now. Nick and his family have always been honest with me and my family and has helped take care of our vehicles for many years. They are amazing,  hardworking people who now need our help. And according to the go fund me page that was set up by Andrea Baker and Valeri Thornburgh. The doctors had told his family that it will take months at minimum for him to be able to recover and will not be able to work for the foreseeable future.
