Babes In Toyland (1986 Christmas Movie)

 Holy crap! Talk about bringing back some Christmas memories, I recently found an old movie I loved watching as a kid and that was Babes in Toyland which was a 1986 Christmas musical film based off the 1903 operetta of the same name created by Victor Herbert and Glen MacDonough.

This movie stars Drew Barrymore, Keanu Reeves, Richard Mulligan (RIP), Eileen Brennan (RIP), Jill Schoelen, Googy Gress and Pat Morita (RIP).

The movie starts as Lisa Piper (Barrymore) a young girl from Cincinnati, Ohio no longer believes in being a kid anymore due to the fact that her father had passed away. But a snow storm is slowly working its way in so she meets with her older sister Mary (Schoelen) along with her sister's boyfriend Jack (Reeves) and his friend George (Gress) and group leaves to get home before the storm only to get caught up in it and accidentally sent Lisa flying out of Jack's jeep before hitting a tree and knocking her out.

Only to be sent to the magic world of Toyland where she meets Georgie Porgie, Jack Nimble, Mary Contrary along with the Toymaster (Morita) to combat the evil of Barnaby Barnacle who is trying to take over Toyland.

Seeing this movie brought back so many incredible memories for me. I really do love this movie, I am not be into many musicals, but this was pretty fun to watch. The movie and singing was quite entertaining.

Of course it is a little strange to some decree because I still remember first seeing Reeves as Neo from the Matrix and of course more recently we see him as John Wick. So seeing him in a musical was different, but hey, the guy can act.

But what I remember the most from this movie was that fact it helps me remember my Nan and Pap. You see they had a VHS tape of the film and most of the time I would come over and we end up watching this movie and never ever gets old.

Obviously VHS tapes are no longer around but thanks to the power of the internet, I can rewatch this Christmas classic. I really would love to show this movie to my little nephew Lukey.

Movies like this makes me wish I could be a kid again.

Well tonight was a pretty special night down here in McVeytown as Chad and I along with many other people who live here in McVeytown all came together to celebrate a special accomplishment. And that was how all three of the McVeytown Eagles teams made it to the CKYFL championship games. Winning in both the Peewee and Midget divisions and placing second in the Mighty Mights. Stuff like this doesn't happen often in such a small town where I live so to see these kids have the time of their lives during the parade was certainly a sight to see. One of the things I love about covering sports is when I see kids learn, work hard and turn it into success. What's going on? Being honest with ourselves!

 I don't like to cause any problems with anybody but there have been a lot of things that I been wanting to get off my chest for a very long time now. And that is in my humble opinion people don't seem to want to be honest about really anything anymore. Now, I could be just a little paranoid, maybe my anxiety is getting the best of me or whatever. But as time has past I have been getting a weird feeling all over me. You see, I just feel as though people no one is really being honest with each other, themselves or to God anymore. Nick Dickson

 Recently, I had found out that a family friend of ours named Nick Dickson had a stroke and people have been doing what they can to support him and his family. Nick is a local mechanic who has been serving this community for many, many years and has always been a generous, hard worker and honorable person at the Dickson's Garage along with his father Ken. He and his father are also local racing legends around here in Mifflin County having raced for a couple generations now. Nick and his family have always been honest with me and my family and has helped take care of our vehicles for many years. They are amazing,  hardworking people who now need our help. And according to the go fund me page that was set up by Andrea Baker and Valeri Thornburgh. The doctors had told his family that it will take months at minimum for him to be able to recover and will not be able to work for the foreseeable future.
