1994 Penn State Nittany Lions Football Team
Hard to believe that this was 30 years ago. Now it is no secret that I am a huge fan of football, but we all have our moments that introduced us to the game of football. And for me, that was the 1994 Penn State Nittany Lions.
Growing up in the state of Pennsylvania, football was one of the main sports any kid was brought up on and I was no different. I was only four years old at the time and I remember seeing how my dad and especially my big brother Cody were while watching Penn State throughout that season.
And man did this team leave an impression on me! The Nittany Lions went undefeated for the year which included winning the Rose Bowl against the Oregon Ducks which is ironic because 30 years Penn State will be facing Oregon for the Big Ten Championship this coming weekend.
But again, this team was incredible to watch because they just had some great players on the roster. Penn State was so explosive throughout the year as they were blowing out a lot of good teams that season.
I mean, when you have great players like quarterback Kerry Collins, running back Ki-Jana Carter, wide receivers like Joe Jurevicius and Bobby Engram, also there was tight end Kyle Brady, offensive lineman Marco Rivera and that is just the offense. Heck! Offensively, Penn State averaged 47.8 points per game while having an average of 520 yards per game
The defense on the 94 team was heavily underrated in my humble opinion mainly because everybody was talking about the offense so much. But defensively, the Nittany Lions gave up a total of 232 points for the season, which was under 20 points per game.
Man was this team was so much fun to watch, to this very day it still blows my mind that they never won the National Championship. It is a shame, but the memories of being with my family watching this team play and being introduced to the game of football leaves a special place in my heart for this team.
Until Time Next!
God Bless and Be Safe Everybody!🙏🙏🙏
