Pro Wrestling Noah
This is one of my personal favorite wrestling promotions and honestly along with Ring of Honor, really brought me back to loving pro wrestling again back in the 2000s and that is the Emerald green company from Japan, Pro Wrestling Noah.
Now the first time that I had ever heard of Noah was thanks in large part of Ring of Honor in the mid 2000s due to both companies were having a working agreement.
But I soon learned that this company much like ROH, was a young, recently formed company back in 2000 after several wrestlers led by Mitsuharu Misawa (RIP) left All Japan Pro Wrestling and formed Noah.
The name Pro Wrestling Noah comes from the biblical story of Noah where humans and animals survived on the Ark during the flood and make a new beginning of the world. In fact, the original logo of Noah was an Ark holding a dove which had an olive branch.
What I love about Pro Wrestling Noah was their hard hitting style. Everything felt so real and the matches were incredible. There wasn't these complicated stories you see nowadays, Noah's style, aka King's Road were more straight to the point and the matches were used to tell the story and more importantly, the championships mattered.
Some of my favorite highlights of the company was the great match between Misawa and Kenta Kobashi in 2003 where Kobashi defeated Misawa for the GHC Heavyweight title. From there on Kobashi went on such a run as champion that I dare say is one of if not the greatest title runs of all time. Kobashi held onto the title from 2003 to 2005.
Unfortunately, things don't last forever as in 2009, Misawa lost his life after an accident in the ring. To this very day, he is surely missed and I dare say that he has a solid case to be named the greatest pro wrestler of all time. Of course, this is just my humble opinion.
The company also faced plenty of other issues for the next couple of years especially after losing their leader.
But I am so happy and proud with how they were able to battle and keep the company afloat and remain one of the best companies going today.
Some of my personal favorites to watch in Noah are Go Shiozaki, Kaito Kiyomiya, Naomichi Marufuji and Takashi Sugiura.
Of course, there were plenty of alumni who I loved to watch back in the day. Guys like Misawa, Kobashi, Jun Akiyama, KENTA, etc. These guys really helped bring back my lost love for pro wrestling and I really think you all should check them out.
King's Road shall live forever, in Pro Wrestling Noah!
Until Next Time!
God Bless and Be Safe!🙏🙏🙏
Well done my twin
