Jimmie And Stevie Ray Vaughn: Brothers In Blues (2023 Documentary)

I recently watched a pretty cool documentary on Tubi the other day and it was about Stevie Ray Vaughn along with his older brother Jimmie and how they gotten involved with the blues genre as well as their careers.

Now, I really love listening to the blues and I am a fan of Stevie Ray Vaughn and I wanted to learn more about Jimmie and his career along with getting to learn more about the blues in Texas. And I must say, this documentary was an incredible watch.

It featured such great talent like Eric Clapton, Nile Rodgers, Billy Gibbons and many of the local musicians that knew Jimmie and Stevie and got to learn their stories and hear them tell stories about such great blues players like Muddy Waters, TBone Walker, Albert King, Jimmy Hendrix and many more.

I thought it was cool to see how Jimmie and Stevie got their start and seeing the home movies of them playing in bands and how they developed their style. I also really enjoyed seeing the older bands they use to play with and now I found some new songs to listen to. It is crazy to me seeing Stevie at such a young age, be able to play the guitar like he did even back in those early days. Truly amazing!

Getting to follow Jimmie around Austin and seeing where they use to play at which unfortunately, not many if any of those building are there anymore. Which sucks because I would have loved being there in person to see it live. But it was not meant to be.

I also really admire how they struggled with addiction but ultimately overcame them. The price of fame and touring like they did back in those days, I can not even imagine. I am grateful and happy to see them kick the habit.

I really loved this documentary! Having brothers myself and getting to see two brothers find success and love for the blues and having such talent like they have.

Still wish Stevie was here with us today. In my humble opinion, the world of music has a giant gap missing that it may not be able to fill. With respect to many great musicians, but listening to Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble just gets me excited. I am so thankful to my dad who first introduced me to Eric Clapton who then eventually led me to Stevie Ray Vaughn. His music is timeless, again, this is just my humble opinion.

I could see the pain on everybody's faces when they talked about Stevie's death, which happened a month after me and twin brother were born. Listening to Jimmie talk wanting to quit playing after losing his brother hit me like a bag of bricks. But thankfully, he is still playing today with his solo career and thanks to the documentary, I got hear his stuff from the Fabulous Thunderbirds.

Much love and respect to everybody who was involved with this documentary because I enjoyed every single second of it. 10 out of 10 for me personally.

The blues to me has always been an underrated genre, it has always been a way for me to be able to relax and feel at peace. Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughn are certainly one of a kind. God Bless you guys and I pray for you Stevie! Thank you for such incredible music!

I can not recommend this documentary enough! You can catch it on Tubi!

Until Next Time!

God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
