Resident Evil (Video Game Series)

With the recent release of the newest entree of Resident Evil Requiem, I wanted to take a little look back at one of the greatest franchises in video game history. Resident Evil!

It is amazing to me to think that this series is 30 years old this year and it is still going strong. The original Resident Evil game came out in 1996 on the original Playstation. It was created by gaming company Capcom thanks to the efforts of Shinji Mikami and Tokuro Fujiwara.

Resident Evil typically consist of survival horror, third-person shooters and first-person elements while avoiding zombies or other mutant creatures.

This game is among one of the highest grossing horror franchises of all time as well as being Capcom's biggest franchise selling nearly 200 million dollars worldwide. If fact, two of the characters throughout its run, Leon S. Kennedy and Albert Wesker have both been named as some of the greatest video game characters of all time.

Although I have been around Resident Evil since the beginning, I must admit that I had a very hard time playing the game for while. Mainly because of the camera angles, it was such a pain in the butt that it did ruin a little bit of the enjoyment for me.

However that changed in Resident Evil 4 when they switched to a third person over the shoulder camera angle which to be perfectly honest with you guys has become a common thing in many games nowadays. But at the time, was really some amazing stuff and in my humble opinion really took the franchise to another level.

I mean really the whole concept itself of Resident Evil which is based on agents trying to stop the Umbrella Corporation from creating bio-weapons or viruses that turn people or animals has horrifying monsters.

Even though I like a lot of the characters, I personally enjoy seeing the duo of Leon and Ada Wong since the days of Resident Evil 2. The chemistry between both and the whole dynamic of wondering who's side Ada is on and Leon trying to show her that she can do good.

Happy 30th birthday Resident Evil! Thanks for the memories and here is to making more.

Until Next Time!

God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
