Indiana Wins College Football National Championship!

 WOW! It finally happened! The Indiana Hoosiers our the National Champions of college football defeating the Miami Hurricanes by the final score of 27-21.

First and foremost, what a game between both teams, great effort on both sides, but sadly there can only be one and it was the Hoosiers who came out victorious.

In fact, this was the first ever college football National title for Indiana in its entire history of the program. And to be honest with all of you, it was really amazing to see.

Ever since I first starting watching college football as a little kid, the Hoosiers were not actually a football school. They were usually a team that many people would beat up on and now look at them, they are the National Champions, undefeated even.

Head Coach Curt Cignetti certainly deserves a lot of the credit in turning this program into a championship caliber team. I mean, the guy literally in his second season with the team and led the Hoosiers to an unbeaten National Champions. As the Head Coach, Cignetti is (27-2) overall and got himself a Heisman Trophy winner in Quarterback Fernando Mendoza.

I do not want to jinks Indiana because the way that college sports is set up nowadays, it isn't easy to maintain talent on rosters. But the way that the Hoosiers are build and the culture that Cignetti has created there in such a short time, Indiana could possibly become one of the top programs for many years to come.

Speaking of the National title game, Mendoza was given the MVP honors on the offensive side of the ball as he went 16 of 27 for a total of 186 yards along with a rushing touchdown. Meanwhile defensively, defensive end Mikail Kamara was rewarded with the Defensive MVP and had four total tackles.

I think what I love most about seeing Indiana win the National Championship is again, just the whole rags to riches story. At one point these guys were just thankful to have a winning season, now the Hoosiers are on top of the college football world.

Congrats to the Indiana Hoosiers on winning the National Championship!

The 2005 Lewistown Panthers Football Team!

 I recently completed reading my story for Hometown Sports Magazine about the 2005 Lewistown Panthers football team who finally ended a thirty years of losing seasons. In this blog, I wanted to talk about why I wanted to write about this team and how I feel the lessons that were learned about them throughout the year can still be used today.  One of the biggest reasons as to why I wanted to write about this team was because of how much of team these guys were both on and off the field. Congrats To Trent Hidlay! (World Champion)

 Although, it has become common knowledge, by many of us who live in Mifflin County. But former Huskies' great Trent Hidlay pulled off an incredible comeback and became the 2025 World Wrestling Champion in Croatia at 92 kg. After being down 10-2, Hidlay powered his way back to defeat Amanula Gadzhimagomedov 13-10 to win the World's Gold Medal. This is such an inspirational story that needs to be told because stuff like this does not happen very often, especially in a small community like Mifflin County.  To me, the story of Trent is all about never giving up and continuing to push forward as well as hard work and dedication.
