PAC -MAN (Video Game)
One of the most influential video games of all time is 45 years old and is still one of the most addictive games ever in the form of the little yellow dot himself, Pac-Man who made his debut in 1980.
Pac-Man was designed by Toru Iwatani along with a small team for a company called Namco and it follows Pac-Man who must eat all of the dots all while avoiding four colored ghosts.
This game broke all kinds of records during its historic run. For example, the Guinness Book of World Records has given Pac-Man eight records including Most Successful Coin-Operated video game.
In fact, in the original arcade game, the max score you can receive was 3,333,360 points after completing 256 levels. Needless to say I never came close to completing it. But either way, I really loved playing this game.
This game had a 10 year head start on me before I was born, but man would I have loved to been around it during the 80s. The first time I remember ever playing Pac-Man was going to a Chuckie Cheeses as a kid. Along with the TMNT arcade games, Pac-Man was another one I really enjoyed playing. It was such a fun simple little game that if you are not careful, you could be playing it for hours and spending a ton of money on it.
From what I understand, only one person in the history of the game has ever truly beaten the game. His name is Billy Mitchell and achieved it in 1999, I only know this because of the G4tv show icons. Until that episode, I didn't even know that there were so many levels in the game. Like I said about it before, I wasn't anywhere close to beating the game.
According to Twin Galaxies, as of 2020, seven other people have completed the perfect score on the original machine with David Race having the fastest time of 3 hours, 28 minutes and 49 seconds.
Pac-Man is one of the most highest grossing video games of all-time grossing well over 15 billion dollars. In fact, in 1982, Pac-Man made six billion dollars on quarters alone (around 19 billion dollars if you adjust with inflation).
To be honest with you guys, writing about this here on my blog has really made me miss the arcades and wish that they were still around. I didn't get to play in the arcades as much when I was kid, mainly because where I live wasn't really close by. But when I did, you bet I was going to have the time of my life!
Plus, it made it a lot more easier for someone like myself to be able to talk with other people when it comes to video games. Unfortunately, arcades are barely around anymore, but again, trying to be more positive, I am grateful for the times I had during those years.
Congrats on the success Pac-Man!
Until Next Time!
God Bless and Be Safe Everybody!🙏🙏🙏
