Assault On Devil's Island (1997 TV Movie)
For those who know me it will be no surprise that I love to talk about B Movies as well as TV movies and last night, I found an old TV film that was released in 1997 called Assault on Devil's Island starring the late Hulk Hogan, Carl Weathers and Shannon Tweed.
This movies also featured veteran actors like Martin Kove of Karate Kid fame, Billy Drago (RIP), Trevor Goddard (RIP) and Billy Banks.
The story follows Navy Seals portrayed by Hogan and Weathers who after, being betrayed by one of their own. Soon join forces with Tweed who plays as an DEA agent and together, they attempt a rescue mission to free an American Gymnastics All Star team who have been taken hostage to Devil's Island and it is up to them to rescue the hostages.
The movie itself had a budget of 4 million dollars which is crazy to think seeing how big movie budgets are nowadays.
And also, like mentioned earlier, this film came out in 1997 on TNT. Which is also insane to me because this was during the height of the Monday Night Wrestling wars between WCW and WWE. I was very surprised that these guys were even making movies like that during such a crazy time.
Then again, who am I to judge because at that time WCW was on fire and winning said Monday Night War.
But, back to the movie, and I must say that I really had a lot of found watching this film. I really did! It was straight to the point which is one of the reasons as to why I love B and TV movies.
I really enjoyed the action in the movie, the fighting was really fun for me to watch. I loved the chemistry between Hogan, Weathers, Kove and Tweed throughout the movie.
When I was doing research for this blog post, I had read about some retrospective comparisons to another movie called The Expendables, which is an incredible movie and to be perfectly honest with all of you, I totally could see it.
I give this movie 8 out of 10.
You can see this movie on YouTube and Tubi.
Until Next Time!
God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
