Medabots!

One of the most underrated series ever in my humble opinion and it was called Medabots. Now, when I first saw Medabots, it was an anime series that aired on the Fox Kids block in the early 2000s. It was a part of the whole anime craze for me as a kid which included other awesome stuff like Pokemon and Digimon.

What I didn't know until recently, was that Medabots originally started as a video game series in November of 1997. Fun fact, it was not even called Medabots when it started, it was actually called Medarot in Japan where it was originally from.

The series was originally created by Rin Horuma and has since been owned by a Japanese company called Imagineer.

The very first video game that was created was Medarot in 1997 and it was played on the Nintendo Game Boy with the latest game being five years ago in Medabots Classic Plus which was only released in Japan.

The plot usually involves around living in the future where many different types of Medabots along with their partners or trainers if you will engage in what is called Robattle where they compete with one another to see who is the best of the best.

Usually after every battle especially submission battles, the loser of the submission battles must give the winner one of their parts of their Medabots whether it be the head, an arm or leg.

The original story of Medabots follows Ikki Tenryo who wants to become a Robattle champion but sadly can not afford one and his parents refuse to buy him one.

However to Ikki's luck, he was able to get enough money to buy himself an outdated Medabot as well as managing finding an medal which activates a Medabot in a river. He then uses it to give life to his medabot which he names Metabee who has a bit of an attitude problem which can be quite funny at times.

Turns out though that the reason Metabee has this problem is that he possesses a rare medal which gives him excess to the Medaforce. In the manga, Medaforce is mind control, but in the anime series it is an extra boost of power leading to a special attack beam.

This series is so cool, to this day I still often wonder how come this series didn't get as big as Pokemon or Digimon. But then again, this is only my humble opinion.

I mean to be fair, when the anime came out, it still was very similar to Pokemon and Digimon and there were also several other kinds of anime around the same time too trying to get kids to watch and buy their toys. Shows like Yu-Gi-Oh, Beyblade, etc so I guess I answered my own question lol. But even still, I really enjoyed the series and wish it could have been bigger.

I sure do miss those times in my youth, but I am extremely and forever grateful for those moments in my life.

Until Next Time!

God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
