Jeremy McGrath (Motocross, Supercross Dirt Biker Racer)
Some of you maybe a little surprised by this, but I really enjoyed watching dirt bike racing when I was little and to some degree still do to this day. And the main reason as to why I love watching it was because of this man, Jeremy McGrath.
Making his debut in January of 1989, who knew that McGrath was going to put the sport of dirt bike racing on the map like he did.
Being a kid of the 1990s, one of the things that I really enjoyed was the Extreme sports that was happening at the time. Many of the events like skateboarding, snowboarding, dirt bike racing, rollerblading, scootering, BMX. Heck! The 90s basically helped create what we now know as the X-Games which come to think about it, I should do a blog post about that lol. But that is another time.
One of the people who was leading the charge for a lot of the extreme sports was in my humble opinion, Jeremy McGrath. What he was doing for the sport really was incredible looking back on it.
His resume speaks for itself, I mean the guy is considered one of the most popular and influential riders in the sport's history and for good reason.
McGrath has won Seven AMA Supercross Championships including four straight from 1993-1996 before winning his last three in a row from 1998-2000. McGrath also has 72 wins in AMA Supercross which is most of all-time. He also won the AMA Motorcross 250MX title in 1995, 2 125cc Supercross championships, 2 Motorcross des Nations victories in 1993 and 1996, two FIM Supercross World Championships. He has the longest winning streak of 13 races, most consecutive seasons with a win with nine and at the time of his retirement, McGrath had the most combined wins between AMA Supercross and Motorcross with a grand total of 89 wins.
Just watching this guy race was incredible, it never got boring. The level of dominates that he had throughout the 90s was amazing! Just thinking about it makes me miss the 90s a lot.
McGrath also had some video games made with the first one being released in 1998 and his latest one was released in 2012. I had a ton of fun playing those games as a kid, I loved to say that I was able to ride a dirt bike, but it is probably for the best that I never did lol. Either way, I loved those games!
It is crazy to think that he retired nearly 20 years ago and to this day, I still remember him and amazing moments he provided for everyone.
I hope and pray that Jeremy is having a great time with retirement and wanted to thank him for introducing me to the sport of Supercross and Motorcross. And for the sport to continue thrive.
Until Next Time!
God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
