Blue Oyster Cult (Rock Band)

A very underrated band in my humble opinion and it was certainly one who I would listen to a lot with my father and I still listen to them to this very day. The Blue Oyster Cult is pushing 60 years old and has been a major influence on heavy metal music.

Blue Oyster Cult's longest and most successful lineup in their careers were Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser who is lead guitar and vocals, Eric Bloom as lead vocals, guitar, Allen Lanier on keyboards, guitar, Joe Bouchard on bass and Albert Bouchard on drums. Their manager Sandy Pearlman (RIP) and rock critic Richard Meltzer have also help contribute to the writing of the band's lyrics.

The band was known for their fusion of hard rock and psychedelia sound mixed in with some occult, fantastical and tongue-in-cheek style of lyrics really helped in establishing the band.

The band itself is pretty much like a science fiction novel which being a science fiction fan myself, I really enjoy that aspect of the band. Also I must confess, I really like the color blue, especially as a child which is also a reason why I love the band 😁.

From what I had researched about the band for this blog post, the name of the band came from one of Pearlman's poems called the Blue Oyster Cult which is about an alien group who has assembled on Earth to guide human history. That is an awesome concept!

Blue Oyster Cult has compiled 16 albums in their incredible careers with their final album coming out last year called Ghost Stories.

To this very day they have three songs that are still popular to listen to by many. Songs like Don't Fear The Reaper and Godzilla, but for me, I always love listening to Burning for You. But I could use more cowbell 😂

Of course, you also have songs like Astronomy, Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll, Career of Evil, Dominance and Submission, Subhuman, Take Me Away, Harvest Moon, etc.

I also like the artwork that they used for all of their albums.

Appreciate all the bands we love because they are not always going to be there.

Congrats to Blue Oyster Cult for an amazing career!

Until Next Time!

God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
