The Hand (Comic Book Villains)

 With Daredevil being one of favorite comic book characters, I wanted to talk about one of my favorite villains from the series. The Hand!

The Hand is an order of evil, mystical ninja who are heavily involved within organized crime. Members of the Hand also practice occult magic and use their powers to commit murder and turn their victims into servants of the Hand. The Hand made their debut in Daredevil #174 in September of 1981.

The group was formed in 1588 in Japan as a secret society of Nationalist Samurai but were soon co-opted by the Snakeroot, an ancient ninja clan led by a primordial demon called the Beast of the Hand.

Kagenobu Yoshioka created the Hand due to his distaste for the government who he saw as corrupt thanks to foreign influence decided to train samurai to help bring power back to the people of Japan. Name comes from the fact that the hand has five fingers, members of the inner circle had command of the five islands of Japan.

Sadly, Yoshioka would soon lose control of the Hand as he was murdered by the Snakeroot ninja clan and used black magic on the Hand and have sought power ever since.

Now, what of the reasons why I love Daredevil is because of how realistic a lot of the storylines throughout the comic book series. The Hand is a bit on the supernatural side of things, but at the same I think that what makes it realistic. I honestly believe that their are people in this world who would actually do something like the Hand is doing.

Plus the idea of Ninja with supernatural powers who can and will attack their enemies from where ever, whenever is a frighting concept.

Fun fact about the Hand, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had a rivalry with the Foot Clan which is a parody of the Hand. In fact, the Turtles were originally meant to be a parody of Daredevil, pacifically the work of the great Frank Miller.

Much like Daredevil himself, the Hand don't normally get a lot of screen time whether it be video games, television, etc. But they have made a few appearances, such example is being the 2005 film Elektra, the canceled Daredevil video game and more recently the Daredevil show on Netflix and hopefully will make a splash in the Daredevil Born Again series. I really want this show to be good!

The Wacky Adventures Of Joshua and Chad: McVeytown Eagles Championship Parade!

Well tonight was a pretty special night down here in McVeytown as Chad and I along with many other people who live here in McVeytown all came together to celebrate a special accomplishment. And that was how all three of the McVeytown Eagles teams made it to the CKYFL championship games. Winning in both the Peewee and Midget divisions and placing second in the Mighty Mights. Stuff like this doesn't happen often in such a small town where I live so to see these kids have the time of their lives during the parade was certainly a sight to see. One of the things I love about covering sports is when I see kids learn, work hard and turn it into success. And these kids were learning a lot throughout the season and watching them grow and not only become better football players, but better people as well.  Which is why I have really enjoyed covering the CKYFL these last few years for Hometown Sports. Nick Dickson

 Recently, I had found out that a family friend of ours named Nick Dickson had a stroke and people have been doing what they can to support him and his family. Nick is a local mechanic who has been serving this community for many, many years and has always been a generous, hard worker and honorable person at the Dickson's Garage along with his father Ken. He and his father are also local racing legends around here in Mifflin County having raced for a couple generations now. Nick and his family have always been honest with me and my family and has helped take care of our vehicles for many years. They are amazing,  hardworking people who now need our help. And according to the go fund me page that was set up by Andrea Baker and Valeri Thornburgh. The doctors had told his family that it will take months at minimum for him to be able to recover and will not be able to work for the foreseeable future.
