The Wacky Adventures Of Joshua and Chad: McVeytown Eagles Championship Parade!

Well tonight was a pretty special night down here in McVeytown as Chad and I along with many other people who live here in McVeytown all came together to celebrate a special accomplishment. And that was how all three of the McVeytown Eagles teams made it to the CKYFL championship games. Winning in both the Peewee and Midget divisions and placing second in the Mighty Mights.

Stuff like this doesn't happen often in such a small town where I live so to see these kids have the time of their lives during the parade was certainly a sight to see.

One of the things I love about covering sports is when I see kids learn, work hard and turn it into success. And these kids were learning a lot throughout the season and watching them grow and not only become better football players, but better people as well.

Which is why I have really enjoyed covering the CKYFL these last few years for Hometown Sports. People like Travis McCullough who is the President of the league along with Adam Weaver, Rob Reeves, Penny Bowersox, Josh Snook and Skip Headings have all done an incredible job trying to build up a league to help provide opportunities for these kids to learn about the great game of football. And I pray that they will all find continued success.

Speaking of helping to build up the youth, we have to give some love to the coaches for all three Eagles teams.

Football Coaches
Mighty Mights Head Coach: Mike Smith/Josh Hartman
Peewee Head Coach: Seth Napikoski
Midget Head Coach: Nick Knable

Cheer Coaches
Mighty Mights: Hope Beckenbaugh
Peewee: Daina Moore
Midgets: Katie Wakefield

Congrats to all the other volunteer coaches as well for their contributions!

For the Mighty Mights, keep your heads up! You guys gave it everything you had in that game and is all you can do. McVeytown is extremely proud of your season! You guys had some big wins throughout the year and making it to the championship game was no easy feat.

The Peewees had some big games as well heading into the title game against a team that they lost twice to during the regular season. But you guys made it count in the end, with an incredible championship win where both teams should be very proud with how they played.

Thank you to coach Seth Napikoski for providing these stats.
The Eagles scored 301 points this year while allowing only 52. The team had 45 touchdowns (37 rushing, 5 Special Teams, 2 passing and 1 defensive). They also had 10 different kids score a touchdown (Calvin Napikoski 18, Lincoln Knable 17, Matthew Hartsock 16, Alexander Weaver 13, Cole Laughlin 4, Jase Snyder 3, Canyan Brown 2, Liam Bender 1, Owen Fultz 1).

Of course, the Midget team, what can I say you guys for God only knows how many years in a row that McVeytown did not have a Midget team and at one point prior to the season, they appeared as though the Eagles wouldn't have one again. But to coach Knable and the rest of his staff's credit, they pulled it off and turned it into a championship season. This team a couple times this season found themselves in tough situations but managed to get out with a big W. A couple of those moments came when they played the Terrace Tigers that literally went down to the wire. Then a double overtime thriller against the Burnham Bulldogs.

I would also like to congratulate all the other teams in the league as well. Teams like the Burnham Bulldogs, Kish Indians, Derry-Decatur Cyclones, Terrace Tigers and the Juniata Little Indians for providing this County with great excitement throughout the season. Also for helping build these kids up and make them into better football players, but more importantly, better people. God Bless you all and I pray for all of you as well. 🙏🙏🙏

I personally would like to thank Nick Knable, Seth Napikoski and Mike Smith/Josh Hartman for letting me write about this on my blog. I also wanted to say thank to both Casey Platzer and Matthew Felmlee for helping me provide the photos for the blog.

Also a big shout out to the McVeytown OIP for providing me and my twin with some amazing Pizza 🍕. We greatly appreciate it!

Once again congrats to all of the McVeytown Eagles teams for an incredible year.

Until Next Time!

God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
