Twisted Metal (Video Game Franchise)

1995 was the arrival of one of the most controversial video game franchises of all time and was another one I really playing a lot as a kid which looking back on it, I am very surprised that I was even allowed to play this game lol.

Twisted Metal can only be described as a demolition derby. OF DEATH! With vehicles loaded up with rockets, machine guns, you name it, they use it.

The common plot of Twisted Metal is that drivers from all different walks of life receive a message from a man named Calypso who is the host of the Twisted Metal tournament which happens once a year. And the winner of the tournament will be granted a wish which ultimately becomes a be careful what you wish for because it usually ends up not go the way you think it will.

There also have been plenty of let's just say unique characters throughout the series, of course you got to start with arguably the biggest character in the whole franchise, which is Marcus Kane aka Needles, the driver of the legendary ice cream truck called Sweet Tooth.

Also there is Mr. Grimm and his motorcycle and other characters. But personally, I prefer characters like Mr. Ash who was the driver of the vehicle Darkside. I always enjoyed taking the big rig and smacking into my opponents. I also really enjoyed playing the character Preacher who drove Brimstone and is the leader of the group called the Holy Men.

I love getting to sit down in front of the television along with my twin brother and some of our family and friends and we all just started going out it with one another trying to see who will win in the end.

The concept has always been something that I enjoyed about this game because it brings up and very interesting question. What would you do, to have your greatest wish granted?

You know what I mean? Like how much would you destroy to have your way? The morality of the game was a big draw to me and seeing how some people are nowadays with all the internet and people doing whatever it takes to be famous. It kind of makes me wonder if something like this could exactly happen in the real world. Which honestly, I am scared to death that I would even think that. But you never know.

It also seems a bit crazy to me that the last Twisted Metal game came out in 2012. Over ten years ago, which I am a little surprised by that.

Who knows, maybe one Calypso will bring the tournament back and we all will see who will step up to the plate and literally risk it all to have their greatest wish granted.

Until Next Time!
