The Sims (Video Game Franchise)
WOW! This game is 25 years old and it certainly left a mark on the video game industry and in my own personal life as well. The Sims was created by industry legend Will Wright and it first came out in early 2000.
The Sims is basically a life/social stimulation type of game where you get to create your own personal family or random characters and put them in these virtual towns. You can basically be and do anything you want in this game.
You can either get live in a pre-constructed house or build one of your own. You get to send your Sims out into the real world so to speak and meet other characters whether it be online or characters from within the game itself. You got to get a job, pay the bills, buy food to keep your Sims full, you got to have them do other simple things like, getting them clean like showering and having them sleep in beds so they don't tire out.
It is the closest to the perfect example of how real life is how it is actually suppose to work. And honestly, at the time I didn't really notice till I grew older.
What I learned about this game as I was researching for my blog was how Will Wright created this game as a way to cope from a personal experience of his own and I admired that.
Speaking of personal experiences, this game helped me out so much as I was growing up. Looking back on it, it really showed me how much I love to write and more importantly create characters.
It certainly helped me with dealing with the simple fact that I was sheltered as a child. I didn't exactly have many friends. And even the ones I did have, I didn't see as much mainly because I wasn't living near them. Being socially awkward didn't help my cause either.
Plus, I was so scared with how people would react to me if they saw some of the stuff that I was into like gothic stuff such as vampires, magic, etc.
With this game, I truly felt like I could be anything I wanted to be without the fear of judgement from other people. Say what you want about video games, but the Sims really helped teach me about life itself and how valuable life is and being responsible.
This game is so much fun to play and it was one of my go to choices when I wanted to play a game. In fact, there have been several different versions of the Sims throughout its run and some of them to this day in my humble opinion still hold up.
It is nice to see the Sims still going strong and I would love to continue playing these games for many years to come.
Until Next Time!
God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
