The Punisher (Comic Book Character)
Oh man I am extremely excited to be talking about this one guys. The Punisher is another one of my personal favorite comic book characters ever. Since making his debut in the Amazing Spider-Man comic book back in 1974 where he was originally depicted as an assassin and adversary to the web head, the Punisher has been tearing it up ever since.
The story for the Punisher is about a man named Frank Castle, a former US Marine who lost his family to the Mob due to them witnessing a murder committed by them. Since then, the Punisher has waged a one man war on crime and is willing to go any lengths to accomplish his mission.
And he is not picky in his choices of evil criminals that he wants to kill. If you are a criminal that has committed something terrible, you bet your backside that Castle will hunt you down and finish you off.
His obsession of avenging his family and being an end to crime has been something that I find endearing but also concerning. Although I really enjoy the character, I don't necessarily agree with how the Punisher goes about it.
Now with that being said, the Punisher comics do leave us with a very interesting question. What do we do about criminals who not only continue to harm people, but enjoy it?
Where I am getting at is how everything just seems to keep getting worse. Where do we drawn the line? I am all for forgiveness and giving people chances to better themselves as well as the world. But when is enough, enough? I sometimes wonder if the Punisher is right at times because the justice system doesn't always work plus some of these criminals take advantage of the system and just get right back out there on the streets and just continue to make innocent people suffer.
The Punisher certainly questions a lot about morality which I do love that about the character. Seeing the black outfit with the skull and crossbones, you know that things about to go to down.
Heck! I remember reading about how the Punisher took over the War Machine suit and my mind was just blown. The last person I think anybody in Marvel wanted to see get into that suit, it would have been the Punisher. But nonetheless, I really did enjoy seeing him as War Machine.
The Punisher has also been featured in a few movies like the one in 1989 starring Dolph Lundgren. The 2004 movie with Thomas Jane playing the character which I really enjoyed that movie. There was also the 2008 Punisher Warzone movie that featured Ray Stevenson.
Recently Jon Bernthal plays the Punisher and I must say, he has done an amazing job and I can not wait to see how things go with Daredevil Born Again. I am really hoping for it to be good. Plus I have always loved seeing Daredevil and Punisher work together, I truly believe these guys need each other and that they are stronger together.
With that being said, I really hope that the new series Daredevil Born Again will be awesome. Two of my favorite characters are in it and I really want it to succeed. Fingers crossed!
Until Next Time!
God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
