The Pale Rider (1985 Film)
Earlier today, my twin brother Chad and I found an old Clint Eastwood movie from 40 years ago called the Pale Rider on Tubi. The Pale Rider is a western film that stars Eastwood who also just happens to be the producer as well as the director of this movie.
The story follows a group of miners who are living in California who are independent prospectors seeking for gold are being harassed by coal baron Coy LaHood and his thugs so that he can have all the gold for himself.
However, standing in his way is Hull Barret who is courting Sarah Wheeler and is caring for her teenage daughter Megan. After a vicious attack by LaHood that destroyed their property as well as Megan's dog. Megan becomes desperate and looks for divine intervention. After her plea, a mysterious stranger known only as Preacher (Eastwood) appears on a pale horse and enters into Carbon Canyon. From there on things start to get to change for the people of Carbon Canyon.
This film was created with a budget of 6.9 million dollars and scored a box office of 41.4 million dollars making it the highest grossing western film of the 1980s.
Which shouldn't be so surprising considering how great the movie is. Clint Eastwood did an incredible job in this movie. You can really see how much he put into this movie being the star as well as the director and producer for this film.
I really enjoyed the religious themes throughout the film with the title character that Eastwood plays is basically represents Death one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The title of the movie comes from the Book of Revelation chapter 6 verse 8.
But I also like how they didn't just make the Preacher character a straight up killing machine. Like throughout the movie, Preacher is trying to end things peacefully and always looks to get the villains of the story to move on and stop their evil ways against the people of Carbon Canyon.
Fun fact, Richard Kiel who is more known as Jaws from the James Bond movies, is also featured in this movie as well. Which was very cool to see.
Check out this movie!
Until Next Time!
God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
