Goldeneye 1995 (James Bond Film)
Last night, I decided to go back and watch some awesome James Bond movies and on the menu for the night, I went and watched Goldeneye which was one of the first Bond films I had ever watched. Crazy to think that this movie is now 30 years old.
Originally this movie came out in 1995 and featured the debut of Pierce Brosnan as the legendary 007 himself, James Bond.
The film follows Bond and fellow MI6 agent Alec Trevelyan, attempt to infiltrate a Soviet Union chemical weapons plant called Arkangel. Sadly, the mission goes a little wrong as Trevelyan is captured and supposedly killed forcing Bond to escape and destroy the site.
Nine years later, the Soviet Union is no more and Bond is now assigned to stopping a group called the Janus Crime Syndicate who has possession of a Nuclear electromagnetic pulse space-based weapon "Goldeneye" from destroying the world.
First off, this movie rules. Second, Brosnan did a fantastic job playing the role of James Bond. In my humble opinion, he was the perfect combination of toughness and the ability to fight the bad guys. But also the gentleman/charming ladies man that sweeps women off their feet.
Sean Bean as Trevelyan did (Spoiler Alert) an amazing job playing the main villain of the movie plotting revenge against the British government after losing his parents at a young age. To this very day, many fans of the James Bond series consider him one of the best villains and even the dark inversion to Bond.
Izabella Scorupco and Famke Janssen were incredible Bond girls Natalya Simonova (Scorupco) and Xenia Onatopp (Janssen).
One of my personal favorite moments from the movie was the opening credits. The theme song Goldeneye which was written by Bono and the Edge and was performed the late great Tina Turner (RIP). I can never, ever get tired of listening to this masterpiece of a song. It certainly fits the style that many other James Bond themes did before it.
This film was so much fun to watch and it certainly help bring back James Bond into the mainstream again. Personally I really enjoyed Brosnan as Bond and think you can make the argument that he was the Bond ever.
This movie was on a budget of 60 million and had a box office of 356.4 million dollars.
Check out this movie
Until Next Time!
God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
