One On One Interview With Emmy Award Winner Cody Yoder

I am very excited to bring all of you another one on one interview for all of you. This one is a special one for me personally because this time I got to talk with my older brother Cody who recently had gotten his Emmy award for video editing. I am so proud of him!

But I also wanted to do this interview to help inspire others who like my brother, who come from a small town and show them that they too can find success.

I would like to say thank you big brother for taking the time to do this interview and I really hope you all will enjoy it.

JY: What got you into making videos?

CY: Honestly, one of my close friends at the time talked me into taking Media for an easy A.  We thought it would be an easy class to take for our senior year of high school. Little did I know, I was going to love it as much as I did. We decided to sign out one of the school cameras for a weekend, and drove to Bellefonte, PA to shoot footage of our football team to use for a fun highlight video.  Things pretty much took off from there, and I went all in by the time basketball season came around.

JY: What made you realize that you could make a career out of it?

CY: I was full steam ahead making highlight videos every few days, to be played on the morning announcements the day of the next game.  At this point, I think I was already traveling with both the girls and boys basketball teams for every single game.  One morning after my newest video was played, I was stopped in the hall by Jenna Craig, who played on the basketball team.  She said something along the lines of how I should do this for a job. I can't remember her exact words, but at that moment it hit me that I could make something out of this new passion.

JY: Coming from a smalltown, what was it like working in the big city?

CY: Hectic! It was a really hard adjustment to make, but eventually I adapted to the pace and the amount of people I had to be around all the time. It also took me about an hour and a half each way (on a good day) for my commute. I'm proud to say I did the NYC commute for about 8 years, but now that I work fully remote I would never go back.  It's what is best for my family.

JY: What was your reaction to winning the Emmy?

CY: Well it was sort of a full circle moment for me, being right before the 20th anniversary of my high school graduation. It made me think back on everything I did to get to this point, which I never usually do, and I wouldn't change a thing.

JY: What advice do you have for someone who is from a smalltown looking to make it?

CY: Positive mindset and trusting your gut goes a long way.  I would have never done any of this if I didn't have those 2 traits. Also, surrounding yourself with supportive and positive people never hurts!

And there you have folks! That was my interview with Cody Yoder. Again, I appreciate the time he took to do this interview with me. Also to anyone out there who are reading this, just know that you too can make it doing the things you love. There is always hope, never give up on your dreams.

Again, I am so proud of you Codeman! I only hope to be half of the person that you have become and I love you big brother.

Until Next Time!

God Bless and Be Safe Everyone! 🙏🙏🙏
