Legends Of The Hidden Temple

God I love this show so much! One of the coolest TV shows ever! And believe it or not, it was a game show called Legends of the Hidden Temple. The show aired for three seasons from 1993 to 1995 on Nickelodeon.

The was created by David G. Stanley, Scott A. Stone and Stephen Brown. The setting is build around a fictitious temple where contestants compete against one another to find the treasures that are hiding somewhere within the temple that are being protected by the temple guards.

The show was hosted by Kirk Fogg while the teams were guided by Olmec who knows about all of the legends of the treasures that are hiding in the temple.

There are six different teams that competed in each episode, there was the Red Jaguars, the Orange Iguanas, the Green Monkeys, the Purple Parrots, the Silver Snakes and the Blue Barracudas.

Teams compete against one another in four rounds.

The first round: The Moat: In this round all six teams attempt to cross the moat and press the button. The first four teams to get across and press the button will move onto the next round.

The second round: The Steps of Knowledge: The four teams that make to this round get asked a series of questions about the legend that they are competing for. With each correct answer, the team moves down the steps until there are two teams remaining.

The three round: The Temple Games: The two teams that make it to this round compete in three physical challenges to determine who gets the pendant of life. The first two challenges that is won, the winning team gets a half of a pendant of life while the third is for a full one. And if it ends up being a tie at the end, there will be a tiebreaker where the teams have to answer a question from Olmec and who ever answers it correctly will go into the final round.

The final round: The Temple Run: The team that makes it to the finals have a chance to win the main prize. They have three minutes to room through the 12 rooms of the temple in search of the treasure while avoiding the temple guards. Now if the team makes it and has a full pendant of life on them, they would be able to use that to avoid being captured by the temple guards. Only one member can go at a time and if the member gets caught, the other member takes his or her turn to go through the temple and hopefully be able to bring home the treasure.

Me and Chad would watch this show all the time. Much like Power Rangers and Ninja Turtles, this show too was a big part of our lives. To this very day, Chad and I discuss how much we wished could have gotten a chance to compete on the show. I love the challenge of using both your brain as well as the physical challenges. I don't know how well we would have fared, but still be pretty cool.

When I found out that they were bringing it back in 2021, I was excited. Unfortunately it wasn't what I once loved. Which is a shame, but still, I love the Legends of the Hidden Temple.

There was even a movie based on the show as well back in 2016 that also aired on Nickelodeon.

I certainly miss this show a lot and honestly, I truly believe that a lot of kids nowadays could learn a lot from this show. It certainly helped me and Chad when we were kids, plus I just love to learn about the history of each legend.

If you haven't seen the show, go see it! It really was an amazing show!

Until Next Time!

God Bless and Be Safe! 🙏🙏🙏
