Transformers!
It is crazy to think that it has been 40 years since the debut of Transformers. All the way back in 1984 the world would never be the same as the war between the Autobots and Decepticons had came to Earth to continue their fight.
Transformers got their start in May of 84 as a monthly comic book series that lasted until 1991 having a total of 80 comic books of Generation One.
I first learned about Transformers because of my big brother Cody as he watched the series as a kid. The first series I use to watch along with my twin was Transformers Beast Wars.
As mentioned earlier in the blog, the Autobots and Decepticons had came to the planet Earth due to their war had destroyed their home planet of Cybertron.
Leader of the Autobots is Optimus Prime who is arguably one of the greatest characters of all time. Optimus certainly has one of the coolest voices of all time thanks to the efforts of Peter Cullen.
On the flip side, the Decepticons are led by Megatron who was voiced by Frank Welker in the original series. You might remember Welker in another awesome show as he played Fred on Scooby Doo. Many of you may not know this but early on in the series, Megatron was kind of the hero of the story but let power corrupt him and killed off his former student named Orion Pax who later became Optimus Prime and used his own teachings against him.
Let's just start with the obvious, giant fighting robots are AWESOME! Not only that, they were giant fighting robots that shoot giant lasers! Now that we got that out of the way lol, we can talk about the other reasons why Transformers was cool.
These robots also had the ability to change into regular vehicles to help them hide among the humans. Hence the phrase robots in disguise. Although I do enjoy seeing Optimus as semi truck and Megatron as a tank.
I loved the Dinobots and I think Grimlock being a T-Rex was also, plus it kind of reminded me of the Tyrannosaurus from the Power Rangers.
My personal favorite line in the show was when Optimus confronts Megatron and says, One shall stand, the other shall fall.
As I was looking back on the history of the series, this franchise has gross 25 billion dollars and that is as of 2011 so it is obviously way more by now in 2024 to which I say, HOLY CRAP THAT IS ALLOW OF MONEY!
Who would have thought back in 1984 this series would become what it is today? I mean I've only scratched the surface. You look at the movies that came out, the toys, comic books and even video games. It is crazy to think how some things can just go off and become major successful as Transformers did.
It is really cool to see and I would love to show off some old Transformers stuff to my little nephew Lukey someday.
I also hope to write more blogs about Transformers in the near future.
Until Next Time!
God Bless and Be Safe Everyone! 🙏🙏🙏
