Wizard Of Oz
One of my personal favorite movies to watch growing up as a kid was watching Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man and The Cowardly Lion following that yellow brick road to see the Wizard Of Oz.
The film was released all the way back in 1939. 😮 My Nan and Pap were just little kids when this movie came out!
In fact, by the time the movie had came out, the story was already 39 years old as it was written by L. Frank Baum back in 1900. Also, a musical was created in 1902 and another interesting fact I learned about the Wizard of Oz was that the book was a 14 book series of the Land of Oz.
The story goes as a young farm girl named Dorothy who lives with her Aunt Em, Uncle Henry and her dog Toto in Kansas. That was until she and Toto were taken away by a cyclone and ended up in the Land of Oz and was not able to return home until she had rid Oz of the Wicked Witch of the West.
What I love about this movie and never really get tired of hearing was the singing. I'm not into many musicals, but I always enjoyed listening to songs from the movie whether it was, We're off to see the Wizard or Ding-Dong the Witch is Dead, etc always brought a smile to my face.
I will always admire the performances that the cast did throughout the movie. I really felt like I was in this beautiful world called Oz.
Here is an another interesting fact! I first saw the movie and it featured the Ruby Slippers that were used to take Dorothy back home to Kansas. However, in the actually story, the shoes were silver. The reason why they changed the color of the shoe was because they wanted to take advantage of the technicolor.
According to the Library of Congress, the story of the Wizard of Oz had been declared to be America's greatest and best-loved homegrown fairy tale.
But now, I also want to talk about something else that involves the Wizard of Oz. You see I am also writing this blog because I saw that the local high school in my area Mifflin County High School and its drama club are going to be performing the musical at the school in early 2024.
I think its really good that those kids are going to perform such a classic and I am praying for them to success and have fun doing the shows. Please go out and support the show! The first show will be on Feb. 23rd.
God Bless and Be Safe! And try to make each other melt with a bucket of water 😂
