Code Lyoko (Animated Show)
In my humble opinion, this was a very underrated animated series that really shaped my love for anime during the early 2000s and it was called Code Lyoko. Code Lyoko came out in 2003 and lasted until 2007 completing four seasons and nearly had 100 episodes.
Code Lyoko was created by Thomas Romain and Tania Palumbo and it follows a group of teenagers who travel to a virtual world called Lyoko to wage war against an artificial intelligence known as X.A.N.A., who threatens the Earth with his ability to access the real world and cause havoc for our heroes to stop.
The plot follows Jeremy Belpois, a young prodigy attending a boarding school at Kadic Academy, discovers a quantum supercomputer in an abandoned factory near his school. Upon activating it, he meets an AI girl named Aelita trapped inside of it. He also wakens an evil AI X.A.N.A. who is trying to eliminate anyone who is aware of the supercomputer's existence so it can be free to conquer Earth and destroy all humanity.
Jeremy and Aelita are then joined by Odd Della Robbia, Ulrich Stern, Yumi Ishiyama and the later on in the series by William Dunbar and together they are the Lyoko Warriors.
One of the things I learned about the series was that it was originally created from Romain when he made a short film called Les enfants font leur cinema which is french for The children make their movies. Fun fact, this film was produced by a group of students from the Gobelins School of the Image.
This led to Romain and Palumbo being offered an opportunity to turn the short film into a series which led to them creating Code Lyoko. Actually it was called the Garbage Kids.
What made me enjoy this series so much was the different animations used throughout. Like how I love the animation for the real world and when they enter into Lyoko, they look completely different. I was really impressed with their efforts they put into that.
The opening theme to the show is another fun reason as to why I love the show. The song was called A World Without Danger which was sung by Noam Kaniel and I must say, I love the song and still listen to it this very day.
I also enjoyed seeing how they always go back in time at the end of each episode but always remember what they did in it too unlike the other characters who forget.
Just writing this blog makes me want to go back and watch the show again. Like I mentioned earlier, this was an underrated series.
Heck! I didn't know that they had sequel series that had 26 episodes but sadly, the company MoonScoop had filed for bankruptcy.
But overall, I really enjoyed the series!
Until Next Time!
God Bless and Be Safe Everybody! 🙏🙏🙏
